Mary March is a member of the International Society of Appraisers. She has completed her Core Course in Appraisal Studies as well as the 2024-2025 15 Hour Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, otherwise known as the USPAP. Mary March is a graduate of Penn State University earning a Masters of Fine Arts, with a concentration in American Studies. Mary's thesis focused on Victorian Mourning traditions and how such traditions related to material cultures including textiles and the symbolism behind hair jewelry. Employed as the collections manager for the Cumberland County Historical Society for over 16 years, she has had extensive experience with Schimmel carvings, stoneware, quilts, textiles/clothing, silver, and items relating to the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. She was also employed by a local Central Pennsylvania auction company for 15 years where she worked with decorative as well as fine arts and served as their book and ephemera specialist. Currently, Mary is the is the owner of South Mountain Appraisals, LLC located in historic Boiling Springs and looks forward to appraising your items! As a generalist appraisal, she can value your collectibles, general household contents, art, books and ephemera, silver, pottery, porcelain, etc. She is also a consultant specializing in books and ephemera for the prestigious Gurr Johns, Inc. of Manhattan. South Mountain Appraisals also has a firearms and militaria expert on staff. In her spare time, she leads a Girl Scout Troop and is a volunteer for Girl Scout Community 153 serving the role as volunteer Service Unit Manager.
Staff has also competed certification courses through the Certified Appraisers Guild of America, CAGA.

South Mountain Appraisals, LLC offers a variety of personal property/estate appraisals, but does not appraise real estate or land.
· Decide what items you want to have appraised
· Gather the items together that need appraised. If there are items tucked away in attics or garages, please make them accessible to us. Do not wait until we arrive to start unpacking boxes or hunt for a particular item.
· Unpack and unwrap any items from boxes. If there is an original box, please retain this and place it with the contents.
· Group similar items together such as dish sets, silverware, glassware, etc.
· If you have any supporting documentation such as receipts, old appraisals, please have them accessible
· If possible, have larger pieces of furniture pulled approximately two feet away from the wall so that we may inspect it.
· If this is an estate appraisal and there is a will, make sure all items listed are present and available for inspection.
